China rolls out new AI systems for food-service sector as restaurants adopt full-chain intelligent operations

China is advancing the use of artificial intelligence across its food-service industry, as newly developed domestic models begin to take on full-chain operational tasks – from site selection and market analysis to menu planning and supply-chain forecasting. The shift represents one of the most extensive applications of AI in China’s consumer-facing economy to date, as reported by Global Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

Restaurateurs in major cities report that tools powered by new Chinese foundation models are compressing weeks of manual work into minutes. Operators say the systems can analyse consumption patterns, delivery-order density, pricing structures, and local competition to produce precise recommendations for new store locations and menu positioning.

Industry observers note that AI is now functioning as a real-time decision engine rather than a supplementary digital feature. Consumer-side adoption is rising in parallel. Urban diners increasingly use AI assistants embedded in ordering systems to make bookings, receive personalised dish recommendations based on spice tolerance and dietary needs, and understand how membership points and coupons are applied.

Experts say the rapid rollout is reshaping operational workflows. Tasks traditionally dependent on personal experience or long manual assessment are now grounded in multi-dimensional data processing.
