Egypt targets 30 million tourists year after record 19 million arrivals

The government plans to simplify entry procedures and improve visitor experience

Egypt plans to increase annual tourist arrivals to 30 million following a record 19 million visitors last year, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said at a government meeting focused on easing entry procedures and improving the quality of services for tourists. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt now has a solid foundation to reach its long-term tourism targets. "We currently have an increase in numbers; last year we reached an unprecedented figure of 19 million tourists, and we have the opportunity to reach target figures," he noted.

The Prime Minister stressed that government efforts are centred on streamlining airport procedures and expanding hotel capacity to sustain this momentum. He added that creating a positive first impression on arrival and improving overall service quality remain key factors for the sector’s development.

Egyptian Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsani said the authority reviewed a pilot project for an integrated electronic visa system. Measures to simplify the issuance of emergency visas at points of entry were also discussed, with the aim of speeding up arrival and departure procedures.

The initiative is expected to ease congestion at airports, improve the efficiency of border crossings and strengthen Egypt’s competitiveness in the global tourism market, the source stated.
