Ethiopia declares desire to expand bilateral relations with BRICS countries

BRICS Senior Officials National Technical Committee meeting presented a summary of Ethiopia's achievements in 2024

The BRICS Senior Officials National Technical Committee meeting was held at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the group's activities for 2025 under the Brazilian chairmanship.

The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Minelik Alemu Getahun, Special Policy Advisor of the Foreign Minister, according to Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.

During the meeting, Director General for International Organisations Affairs Lemlem Fiseha, gave a brief overview of Ethiopia's achievements in 2024 and outlined the country's prospects for BRICS in 2025.

Lemlem Fiseha emphasised Ethiopia's desire to maximise bilateral relations with the BRICS countries and their partner states by achieving concrete results in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure development, health, education, trade, and investment.

The meeting, which included representatives from 21 government institutions, discussed Ethiopia's BRICS outlook to 2025. The importance of strengthening cross-sectoral coordination and establishing effective monitoring and communication mechanisms was emphasised.

It is worth noting that Brazil officially assumed the BRICS chairmanship on 1 January 2025.
