Ethiopia develops a ground station-as-a-service initiative in space science and geospatial applications
The Chinese-built ground station at the Entoto Observatory and Space Science Research Center in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa is at the core of this initiative, capable of receiving high-quality satellite data.
It has started providing the ground station services on a fee-for-service basis to generate revenue from the sector. Users can use the services of the data centre by paying only for the time slots used, instead of building their own ground stations.
The development of co-operation between China and Ethiopia in space technology is also noted, with Chinese assistance Ethiopia launched its first satellite into space. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
These advances have enabled Ethiopian specialists to manage satellite operations independently and provide valuable data to end-users.
