Foreign tourists bring US$6 billion to Brazil's economy in 2024
In 2024, foreign tourists contributed a record US$6 billion to Brazil's economy, the highest figure in history. This is reported by Metropoles, a partner of TV BRICS.
In the first 10 months of 2024, the country attracted more than 5.4 million travellers from other countries, 13 per cent more than the previous year.
Brazilian Tourism Minister Celso Sabino calls the figures "promising", noting that they are indicative of the country's growing popularity on the global tourism scene.
"Our foreign policy and our leading role in important global agendas have strengthened the country's image. This encourages tourism, values the country's potential and makes foreigners want to live this experience," he said.
Brazil aims to become South America's largest recipient of tourists, which confirms the goals of the National Tourism Plan 2024 to 2027.
