Saudi Arabia settles 35 species of animals and birds in nature reserve to preserve biodiversity

The reserve conducts research on the lives of rare species, using advanced technologies to track populations and collect data to assess potential threats to wildlife

Thirty-five species of wild animals and birds have been relocated to Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Royal Reserve in Saudi Arabia to enrich biodiversity, restore ecological balance and promote sustainable development, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Ten antelopes, five ostriches and twenty bustards were brought to the reserve to increase their numbers in their natural habitat. The event was held to implement a programme for breeding endangered species. It is noted that the programme complies with the most stringent international standards.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman's Reserve is one of eight Royal Reserves in Saudi Arabia. It covers an area of 24,500 square kilometres, stretching from volcanic plains to the depths of the Red Sea in the west, and includes 15 types of natural habitats, making it one of the most biodiverse areas in the region.

The BRICS countries pay a lot of attention to preserving the diversity of the planet's flora and fauna.

In Kavir National Park, located in the west of Semnan Province in Iran, the population of onagers (Iranian zebras) has increased to more than 50 individuals. The revival of this valuable species, which was on the verge of extinction, was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of employees of one of the most important biosphere reserves, according to IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority, more than 100 species of migratory birds travel thousands of kilometres each year from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North Africa to Ethiopia. Ethiopia's conservation initiatives are aimed at preserving a refuge for birds that stay here from October to May, according to Fana Media Corporation, a partner of TV BRICS.

Russia and China have decided to join forces to preserve the population of the white crane, or stork. A memorandum to this effect was signed by representatives of the Lenskie Stolby National Park (which manages the National Park Kytalyk in Yakutia, where 70 per cent of the world's white stork nests are concentrated) and the Poyang Lake National Nature Reserve (China), according to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
