South African city to create 4,500 jobs

Residents of the region will be part of the government's employment programme in the 2024/25 financial year

According to the Director of Economic Development and Spatial Planning, Hannes Coetzee, more than 7 400 jobs were created in the last financial year in South African city of Tshwane. This is reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

The programme included projects ranging from road repairs and maintenance of street lighting networks to environmental initiatives such as cleaning, landscaping and waste management.

The job creation is commissioned by the President and is being carried out with a budgetary allocation of 111 million South African rand (US$5,99 million) from the Treasury of the Republic.

Coetzee said Tshwane was committed to improving service delivery and increasing employment opportunities for youths, women and persons with disabilities.

“I wish to thank the National Treasury for further granting the City of Tshwane an opportunity to participate in the Presidential Employment Stimulus programme,” Coetzee said.
