TV BRICS launches Spanish version of website
In the Year of Russia's BRICS Presidency, TV BRICS is expanding its work: in March 2024, there were launched Spanish version of TV BRICS information portal and the corresponding branch of the TV BRICS internet broadcasting. Spanish has become the fifth working language of TV BRICS. Previously, the Media Network created and disseminated information in Russian, English, Chinese and Portuguese.
TV BRICS in Spanish is structured similarly to the other versions. It publishes international news on BRICS+ and Mercosur. The focus of the news agenda is on developments in Spanish-speaking countries, including those in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Spanish-language branch of TV BRICS webcast is filled with news columns, interviews with experts, exclusive reports, podcasts and episodes of the City of Stories project about small towns in Russia. In the future, the programme will be expanded with documentaries from TV BRICS International Media Network and other projects produced by partners in the BRICS countries.
"The need to launch a full-fledged Spanish direction of TV BRICS is dictated by the expansion of co-operation with the media in Latin America and the Caribbean. Today, leading publications and TV channels from Cuba, Venezuela and Argentina are exchanging information with TV BRICS, and partnerships are being built with Chile. In addition, more and more countries in the region are announcing their intention to join BRICS, which increases the interest of BRICS members and candidates in each other and strengthens the need for high-quality international media communications. TV BRICS is planning to launch its work in the languages of the countries joining BRICS in 2024, namely Arabic and Persian"Janna Tolstikova CEO of TV BRICS
The launch of the Spanish direction of TV BRICS was announced at the International Media Forum "New Operation Truth", which was held in the Cuban capital Havana in January 2024. At the moment, about a dozen media outlets in the region are partners of the Media Network, including Venezuela's National Assembly Television ANTV and teleSUR (Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Bolivia), Prensa Latina agency (Cuba), digital publications Ahora San Juan, BRICSLat, AsiaTv portal and Extra! (Argentina). In February 2024 alone, more than 70 TV BRICS materials have been posted on these resources. For example, teleSUR, one of the leading TV channels in Latin America, devotes an average of 90 minutes of its airtime each month to stories and programmes produced by TV BRICS.
"TV BRICS and Prensa Latina have been co-operating fruitfully since 2022. Thanks to our information exchange, the Cuban agency's content on a wide variety of topics reaches a wide audience in national languages. Prensa Latina has offices in all BRICS countries, making the bond between our media companies even stronger. We see the launch of the Spanish version of TV BRICS as an excellent opportunity to expand our co-operation, as this is the language in which most of the agency's content is published. This is important for increasing information exchange and expanding our audience in Latin America, a region where Prensa Latina has been active for more than 60 years. We congratulate TV BRICS on the launch of the Spanish portal and express our confidence in its success"
Luis Enrique Gonzalez Acosta President of Prensa Latina
In order to implement joint information, awareness-raising and educational projects and strengthen the foreign policy positions of the BRICS+ countries on the world stage, TV BRICS signed co-operation agreements with the Cuban Ministries of Education and Higher Education and the Cuban Institute of Information and Social Communication.
