Artificial intelligence and programming to become core subjects for first year high school students in Egypt

Egypt's Education Minister is pushing new initiatives aimed at enhancing students' skills and improving the classroom environment

Egypt's Minister of Education Abdel-Latif spoke about an important initiative aimed at ensuring that students gain the necessary programming skills after graduation. He emphasised that Egypt has the largest pre-university education system in the Middle East and North Africa. This is reported by ahramonline.

Regarding secondary education, Abdel-Latif stressed that the ministry is striving to bring the curriculum in line with international standards and better prepare students for the workforce.

This year's new system reduces the number of subjects studied in the first two years to six and the final year to five. This is a departure from the previous model, which required pupils to study 32 subjects over three years.

The minister noted that the new curriculum aims to strengthen national identity by highlighting Egyptian history while teaching students vital skills for the labour market, including foreign language skills. He also highlighted achievements in technical education, with 11 new technical schools recently opened.
