Brazil’s exports transported by air cargo increased by 43 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, reaching US$5.8 billion. According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports of Brazil, total cargo movement in the country amounted to 308,700 tonnes during the period, including both domestic and international operations.

Minister of Ports and Airports Tome Franca stated that the growth of air cargo reflects the strengthening of Brazil’s logistics sector and its ability to respond to expanding international trade flows, according to the government's website.

"The figures show that Brazil has been improving its logistics competitiveness. The growth in air exports demonstrates the international market’s confidence in Brazilian products and underscores the importance of investment in airport infrastructure and operational efficiency," he stated.

In the domestic market, cargo movement totalled 101,200 tonnes in the first quarter. Cargo aircraft operations showed strong growth, increasing by 18.3 per cent to 39,800 tonnes and accounting for more than one-third of domestic cargo transport.

International air cargo movement reached 207,500 tonnes during the quarter. Dedicated cargo aircraft transported 99,500 tonnes, reflecting continued expansion in global logistics operations.

National Secretary of Civil Aviation for Brazil's Ministry of Ports and Airports Daniel Longo emphasised the importance of technical monitoring and market analysis for guiding infrastructure planning and public policy decisions. According to him, sector indicators help authorities and market participants identify trends and improve long-term investment strategies across Brazil’s aviation and logistics sectors.

China remained one of the leading origins of Brazil’s air imports. Pharmaceuticals, machinery, electronics and other high-value-added products continued to dominate Brazil’s international air trade.
