BRICS+ countries congratulate Vietnamese President on his appointment as General Secretary of the ruling party

Heads of State and politicians from BRICS+ countries have congratulated Vietnamese President To Lam on his appointment the top position in the Communist Party. This was reported by Vietnam News Agency, a partner of the TV BRICS.

Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation with his Vietnamese counterpart wished him success in his new post.

"Satisfaction was expressed with the progress in implementing the agreements reached following the Russian President's state visit to Vietnam on 20 June this year, as well as the interaction between the two countries in the international arena, including taking into account Russia's chairmanship of BRICS," the Kremlin's official social media account said.

Vladimir Putin and To Lam confirmed that they will work to expand co-operation in various spheres.

In turn, Indian President Droupadi Murmu in her congratulatory message expressed confidence in deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries on the basis of trust and mutual understanding.

Chairwoman of the Communist Party and Brazilian Minister of Science and Technology Luciana Santos expressed her best wishes to To Lam and wished him success in leading Vietnam.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega showed willingness to expand cross-party and bilateral ties with Vietnam.

First Vice President of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Diosdado Cabello Rondon highlighted To Lam's achievements as President of Vietnam and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the country will make even greater achievements in sustainable economic development, stability and security.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Peru Domingo Cabrera Toro congratulated To Lam on his appointment and expressed willingness to help strengthen co-operation between the two countries.

To Lam has served as President of Vietnam since May 2024. On 3 July, he was appointed General Secretary of the Central Committee by a decision of the Communist Party Plenum.
