China continues to see robust trade activity through the land-sea trade corridor

The number of trips along the corridor is expected to exceed 9,300 this year

In 2023, the number of goods trains along the PRC's New Land-Sea International Trade Corridor exceeded nine thousand, fuelled by robust trade between China and Southeast Asian countries.

The Land-Sea International Trade Corridor, launched in 2017, is a trade and logistics channel jointly built by provincial-level regions in Western China and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

In recent years, trade through the corridor has maintained a stable trend of strong growth and has continuously promoted the high-quality economic development of the region.

"The number of rail journeys through the corridor is expected to exceed 9,300 this year, an increase of more than 50 times compared with the opening year," said Li Tailin, chairman of a major transport and logistics company.

As of October from 2017, more than 30,000 rail journeys have been made along this corridor, Li added.

Xu Zhigang, manager of the international service department of the logistics company, said they had to make labour-intensive procedures to import raw materials from South America, so the company started importing goods through the corridor in 2019.
