China to launch country's largest humanoid robot training centre

Facility in Shanghai will bring together more than 100 types of robots and will be able to generate up to 30,000 data records per day


Chinese scientists are preparing to open the country's first humanoid robot training facility, where prototypes of various types will be prepared for wide application in different everyday and workplace scenarios. The centre will officially start operating in July 2025, with the expectation that it will enable the large-scale sharing and use of data from these intelligent systems, according to the Global Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

On site, more than 100 types of robots are being trained – the largest number of varieties in the country – belonging to more than a dozen companies.

The centre, according to the source, is designed to boost the development of the humanoid robot industry, with a focus on overcoming structural challenges such as advancing shared technologies, building ecosystems, creating representative products and implementing solutions in critical scenarios.

In the first phase of the project, the robots will be trained in approximately 45 atomic skills, such as grasping, picking up, positioning, and transporting objects. The aim is to build up a library of fundamental skills aimed at handling tasks in industrial and service environments.

In the future, the centre plans to implement a data exchange platform, allowing robotics companies to share information obtained in different application contexts, thus contributing to greater efficiency and reducing duplicated efforts in the sector.
