China unveils humanoid robots

They have different skills such as heart gestures, winking at the audience, cooking and calligraphy

At the ongoing World Robot Conference 2024 in Beijing, 27 different humanoid robots have become the most discussed exhibits, displaying a variety of human interactions and skills such as heart gestures, audience winking, cooking and calligraphy. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

In recent years, the world's leading technology and innovation companies have actively competed to develop humanoid robots and accelerate their upgrades. The global market for humanoid robots is projected to reach US$154 billion by 2035.

China, utilising its advantages in supply chain, consumption scenarios, databases and government support, is emerging as an important player in the global humanoid robot industry.

Industry experts believe that 2024 will be a key year for humanoid robots to move out of the labs and into the production floor.

As of July, China has more than 190,000 robotics patents, accounting for about two-thirds of the global total, said Chinese Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin at the 2024 World Robot Conference.

By 2027, the country will have to build a robust chain and integrate relevant products into the real economy.

Since the beginning of this year, manufacturing provinces such as Zhejiang, Shandong, Anhui and Sichuan have started to actively develop innovation centres that combine universities, research and practical applications.

Experts predict that the humanoid robot industry could experience dramatic growth in the next decade. According to a report presented at the First China Conference on Humanoid Robot Industry in April, it is predicted that China's humanoid robot market will reach 75 billion yuan (US$10,5 billion) by 2029.
