The Cabinet of Ministers Media Centre highlighted Egypt’s continued leadership in renewable energy generation, reflecting the state’s strategic commitment to sustainable development. This information was reported by Sada el-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS.

Egypt’s National Integrated and Sustainable Energy Strategy focuses on expanding renewables and reducing fossil fuel dependence through large-scale solar and wind projects, battery storage initiatives, and cross-border electricity connections.

According to the source, infographics highlighted international recognition of Egypt’s clean energy transition. The country’s abundant solar radiation and strong wind corridors provide a competitive advantage, supporting its potential to lead in renewable energy production and exports.

Major projects are expected to serve as pilot models for broader adoption nationwide. Egypt’s total renewable capacity reached 9,366 MW in 2025, up from 7,522 MW in 2024, maintaining its lead over the UAE (6,815 MW) and Saudi Arabia (4,743 MW).

Flagship solar and wind installations underpin the growth of renewable capacity across the country. Cross-border electricity links are projected to export up to 6,000 MW, while exchanges with neighbouring nations have already delivered hundreds of millions of kilowatt-hours, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for clean energy and sustainable development.
