Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister officially appoints as Egypt's Sherpa to BRICS and G20
Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Ragui Al-Etrebi has been appointed as the country's Sherpa to the BRICS and the Group of Twenty (G20). A statement to this effect was published on the official social media page of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
"The Egyptian Foreign Ministry officially notified the Russian Government of the appointment of Deputy Foreign Minister Ragui Al-Etrebi to the post of the Egyptian leader's personal representative in BRICS, and the Brazilian side of his appointment to the same post in the G20," the statement said. The ministry added that Etrebi's appointment to the post was made on the instructions of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
Etrebi proposed to "pay special attention to cooperation between Egypt and the BRICS alliance states, especially – in the field of the use of national currencies in settlements," and in his position in the G20 – to promote "priority issues of Egypt and other countries," namely guarantees of food and energy security and reform of trade, financial and monetary systems.
Recall that on 30 January, Egypt's deputy foreign minister attended a meeting of Sherpas and Su-Sherpas in Moscow. He assured that his country will actively participate in the unification. Etrebi added that the Egyptian delegation has already started an in-depth study of the priorities of the Russian presidency and is preparing its own proposals, initiatives and presentations.
