Embassy of China in Russia honours Russian media for contribution to bilateral media cooperation
A ceremonial reception for Russian media was held at the Embassy of the PRC in Moscow
A ceremonial reception for representatives of Russian media outlets was held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moscow. Opening the event, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui emphasised the nature of bilateral relations.
“China–Russia relations are at an unprecedentedly high level. They reflect support and cooperation shoulder to shoulder, represent an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, serve as a model of a new type of international relations, and embody the shared expectations of the peoples of our two countries. […] Achievements in the development of China–Russia relations would not have been possible without the joint efforts of the relevant information authorities of both countries, as well as without the active support of the friends from media communities present here,” the diplomat stated.
Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, in her remarks, noted that the Russia–China partnership will play an important stabilising role on the international stage. She also recalled that this year marks two significant anniversaries: 30 years of the strategic partnership between the two countries and 25 years since the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation.
"Leading media outlets of Russia and China consistently maintain traditionally close contacts. Today, there is no doubt that the media are not merely a tool for reflecting events. They are a space of meanings, interpretations and responsibility. That is precisely why cooperation between Russia and China in the media sphere is not auxiliary but strategic in nature"![]()

Among the media organisations recognised by the Embassy of the PRC in Russia were, in particular, the TASS Russian News Agency, the National Media Group holding, the Izvestia multimedia information centre, and the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper.
The TV BRICS International Media Network, represented in Russia by a 24-hour television channel and an online media outlet, received an award for its contribution to the development and strengthening of media cooperation between Russia and China.
"It is symbolic that it was the 9th BRICS Summit in Xiamen, China, that laid the foundation for the establishment of the TV BRICS International Media Network. Since then, our ongoing cooperation with China has been steadily expanding in both scale and scope. Today, China and Russia largely set the tone within BRICS, making practical interaction between the media of our countries all the more important. TV BRICS pursues a course of rapprochement on several levels. This includes direct media exchange, which undoubtedly brings geographical neighbours closer together and enriches mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and China. Most importantly, through the media network, BRICS participants can convey their state positions and foreign policy decisions in the global media space as strong, sovereign countries that are among the world’s largest economies"![]()
