Energy and theatre professionals from the BRICS countries and Latin America to undergo internships in Russia with TV BRICS support

The aim of the project is to create conditions for the development of international dialogue in the energy sector

From 29 July to 26 August 2024, Moscow and St. Petersburg will host an internship for energy specialists from Latin America and the Caribbean. The Changing Energy Landscape programme of the InteRussia cycle is implemented by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in cooperation with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) and the TV BRICS International Media Network in partnership with the Global Energy Association and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

The project is aimed at expanding economic and scientific-technological ties with Latin American countries and creating conditions for the development of international dialogue in the energy sector. TV BRICS is the co-organiser and international media partner of the internships.

"In total, UNECON organises two one-month internships for fuel and energy complex specialists from ASEAN and Latin America. We assemble a team of leading Russian experts, organise visits to major energy infrastructure facilities, and analyse topical cases together with representatives of Russian companies. In this way, participants are immersed in the specifics of the Russian energy business. During the programme, they get to know each other, learn from each other's experience, and make new connections, which also contributes to regional energy cooperation"

Dmitry Vasilenko Vice-Rector for International Relations at UNECON

During lectures and seminars the internship participants will discuss international energy security, current and long-term trends in the world markets, the Russian oil and gas sector in the international context, the strategy of low-carbon economy in Russia, the prospects for the development of relations between Russia and Latin American countries in the energy sector. The programme also includes practical case studies, meetings with leading experts and government officials, including the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, and visits to energy infrastructure facilities.

"The TV BRICS International Media Network not only creates conditions for the development of information co-operation between different countries, but also facilitates the rapprochement of expert communities and professional interaction in BRICS. In the year of Russia's chairmanship in the association, the media network is a co-organiser and key partner of two internships of the InteRussia cycle of the the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. For foreign theatre artists, who will soon gather in the Russian capital, and for energy specialists, who will undergo a training programme in St. Petersburg and Moscow. TV BRICS has many foreign partners in the business and humanitarian spheres who show sincere respect for Russia and are interested in its best practices in various sectors. This gives reason to believe that the upcoming internships will aim to fulfil their professional goals and help strengthen international cooperation"

Daria Ivankova Director of TV BRICS International Cooperation Department

InteRussia is a fellowship programme for foreign specialists launched by the Gorchakov Fund in 2021. The project's mission is to strengthen and deepen scientific, social and cultural ties, creating conditions for constructive dialogue between young specialists from Russia and foreign countries.

"InteRussia's internship programme for foreign energy professionals aims to promote domestic practices and competencies. As part of the programme, we offer foreigners interested in professional development to learn about the best practices of Russian enterprises and organisations involved in oil and gas exploration and development, as well as in major infrastructure projects, including a range of works to expand the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG); in nuclear power, hydropower, and the development of renewable energy sources. We hope that the internship will be a useful experience for our Latin American colleagues, both professionally and culturally"

Sergey Orlov Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund

The internship for young actors from BRICS+ countries will take place from 26 August to 22 September 2024 in Moscow. This is a new programme in the InteRussia cycle of the the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, developed in the year of Russia's BRICS Chairmanship in cooperation with TV BRICS and the Russian Institute of Theatre Art – GITIS. Representatives of Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Iran and Argentina will take the educational course in Russia.
