India to create its own chatbot
It will operate with texts and speech in languages common in India
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, together with two local companies, is preparing to launch a chatbot, the main feature of which is to work with texts and speech in languages spoken in India.
"We will be developing our own Indian foundational models. Based on our own languages and our own India data sets we expect that as a consequence of India's Al mission, we will have sovereign Al models that are designed and built in India,” said Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
The chatbot will create texts and generate speech in 11 languages prevalent in India, with plans to be able to perform its functions in all 22 official languages of the country in the future.
In addition, companies from the financial, banking and entertainment sectors are interested in the project. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
The creators consider their advantage to be not only the focus on local languages, which may have nuances in pronunciation and for which global competitors do not have large databases, but also the fact that the chatbot can be used within a corporate or administrative system without the risk of sensitive data falling into third hands.
