Iran ranks first in West Asia in repairing thermal power plants
Managing Director of Iran Power Plant Repair Company Masoud Moradi said that renewal of equipment and parts saves the country US$200 million a year. This is reported by Tehran Times.
Moradi emphasised that the Islamic Republic does not depend on foreign countries to prepare thermal power plants: "Domestic specialists provide technical and engineering services in this sector not only in our country but also in regional states."
Iran has ranked first in West Asia in modernising thermal power plants and has become one of the top five power plant turbine manufacturing countries in the world, the official said.
The rehabilitation of thermal power plants begins in the second half of the year.
The summer months are the peak demand period in Iran, that is why most of the overhaul programmes for power plants are scheduled for the autumn, winter and spring seasons.
