Russia and India plan to hold joint MMA tournaments with participation of fighters from both countries

On 16 December, the largest Russian promoter company in the field of Mixed Martial Arts AMC Fight Nights Global and the Mixed Martial Arts Federation of India (MMAFI), one of the leading associations of MMA in India, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The document was signed by AMC Fight Nights President Kamil Hajiyev and MMAFI President Mayur Bansode at the Trade Representation of Russia in India.

In the context of cooperation, joint commercial MMA tournaments will be held in Russia and India with the participation of fighters from both countries, which will allow them to exchange coaching experience. There are also plans to open schools, which will not only allow Indian professional athletes to reach new heights in international competitions, but also to popularize this sports direction among Indians.

Indians engaged in MMA will have the opportunity to undergo training in Russia and will be able not only to improve their skills, but also to gain additional useful skills and knowledge.

Commenting on the development of MMA in BRICS countries Kamil Hajiyev said that the alliance is a platform for joint development, because all BRICS member countries are involved in the industry in one way or another, but they need a push to be able to implement large joint collaborations.

"Sport has always been a unifying platform in both politics and business, and the BRICS is a good set of countries, each of which knows about MMA firsthand, but is also interested in developing," AMC Fight Nights Global president said in an exclusive commentary to TV BRICS.

According to MMAFI president Mayur Bansode, many athletes representing other martial arts, including boxing, wrestling and wushu, show interest in MMA and try to achieve fame in this sport.

In the framework of cooperation, it is planned to organize at least four tournaments a year in India with the participation of the best fighters from Russia and other countries.
