Saudi Arabia and China sign agreement to promote cultural co-operation

The agreement envisages exchange of experience and organisation of cultural events

Representatives of Saudi Arabia and China signed an agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of culture. This is reported by Arab News. The agreements were reached during a visit to Beijing by the Minister of Culture of the Kingdom Badr bin Abdullah.

The Saudi minister signed the agreement with Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli. The agreement aims to expand cooperation in museums, cultural heritage preservation, theatre, fine arts, architecture and design.

Both sides have agreed to participate in each other's festivals and other cultural events, as well as exchange information. The deal also involves art residency programmes between public and private institutions, as well as the exchange of experiences and the organisation of cultural events.

The Saudi Ministry of Culture is keen to promote international exchange programmes as one of its strategic goals under the Vision 2030 initiative, the publication said.
