Tunisian experts discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on creativity and intellectual property

Artificial intelligence makes it possible to introduce new methods into artistic creation

The seminar "Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property” takes place on June 4–5 at the “Centre des Arts, de la Culture et des Lettres Ksar-Said” in Bardo. This is reported by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), a partner of TV BRICS.

Experts agree that content created with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) does not reach the level of human creativity, despite its aesthetic appeal.

They acknowledged that the use of AI in the artistic field opens the way for intellectual property violations.

This workshop was organised by the Tunisian Organisation of Copyright and Related Rights (OTDAV) as part of the third Tunisian Literary and Artistic Property Day.

OTDAV CEO Ramzi Kasraou stated that the purpose of this meeting is to exchange views and experiences on AI in order to create a regulatory framework governing its use.

He also stressed that AI uses protected creative works, making some changes before making them available to the public. This practice raises legal issues regarding the origin of works and intellectual property, he added.

Experts expressed concern about copyright and the means to protect the original work from any illegal use of AI, especially given that current legislation has not been developed to protect human creations from potential dangers associated with the use of AI, which also raises an ethical issue.
