UAE rolls out strategy for solar, wind power, green hydrogen, and carbon capture
The UAE is actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio, adding seven new projects worth US$2.16 billion over the past year. These projects include technologies ranging from energy from waste to geothermal power. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
By the end of the year, the UAE will have 13 solar power projects up and running, providing 10.6 GW by 2024. The country is looking to expand investment in solar power, utilising its year-round solar potential to meet ambitious clean energy targets.
The UAE also plans to produce 1.4 million metric tonnes of hydrogen per year by 2031, which will make the country one of the world's leading producers of green and blue hydrogen.
The country is also investing in the development of renewable energy and hydrogen technologies as part of its Energy Strategy 2050.
All of these strategies provide a clear roadmap for increasing the UAE's reliance on renewable energy and hydrogen technology development.
