Ethiopia supplies livestock vaccines to more than 30 African countries

The National Veterinary Institute (NVI) produces and supplies 23 types of vaccines for domestic animals

Ethiopia's National Veterinary Institute not only supplies itself with animal vaccines, but also generates foreign exchange through exports to 33 countries in the Middle East and Africa. This is reported by ENA.

The institute, founded in 1964, has become the leading producer of veterinary vaccines on the continent and its highly trained staff is dedicated to animal health.

By producing and marketing 23 different types of vaccines for domestic animals, including chickens, camels, dogs and cattle, the institute has been able to meet both domestic and international demand.

In the last 11 months alone, the institute exported 41.5 million doses of animal vaccines and supplied 292 million doses to Ethiopia, significantly reducing the need for imported vaccines and foreign exchange costs.

Ethiopia has become a key exporter of vaccines to countries with large livestock populations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Chad and South Sudan.
