Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute becomes one of most influential in Africa
Artificial intelligence continues to gain wider development and adoption across Africa
The Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute is becoming the fastest-growing and one of the most influential institutes in Africa. This was stated by the country’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, as reported by ENA, a TV BRICS partner.
The politician highlighted the institute’s progress over the past five years. Its achievements include the development of breast cancer diagnostic technology, as well as systems for identifying diseases in coffee and other agricultural crops. These innovations have been patented at the international level.
In addition, the institute is expanding its capabilities in the production of drones and communication technologies, including language models. Thanks to these models, speakers of different languages and dialects can communicate with one another without interpreters.
Ahmed noted that the institute’s staff go beyond software development for robotics and are also involved in designing and creating hardware.
The institute has developed a platform offering more than 100 public services, contributing to the modernisation of various sectors of public administration.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for further development of artificial intelligence in Ethiopia so that the country does not fall behind global transformations.
