India plans to build 71 new airports

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has favoured infrastructure development at all airports in the country

India's Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced plans to construct 71 new airports in addition to the existing 149 airports across the country. Over the past nine and a half years, the authorities have already built 75 new airports, increasing the total from 74 in 2014 to 149. With further development, the number of airports is set to reach 220 in the near future. This is reported by Trinity Mirror, a partner of TV BRICS.

One of the upcoming projects includes a new terminal at Madhurapudi airport, which will have the capacity to serve three million passengers annually. This terminal will have 28 check-in counters, four arrival areas, and 600 car parking spaces.

Furthermore, Minister Scindia stated that there are currently 18 flights operating from Madhurapudi airport, and this number will be raised to 25 in the coming days. It is worth mentioning that Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has emphasized the importance of infrastructure development at all airports as a means to promote accelerated industrial growth in all districts.
