Iran produces diesel fuel and black carbon from wastewater
The technical carbon, which is heavily used in industry, especially in the production of tyres, will now be produced in the wastewater treatment process. This will not only add economic benefits but also help reduce pollution.
The daily processing of 120 tonnes of sludge into diesel and carbon black is the company's top priority for this year. This fuel can then be used to heat the treatment plant and associated facilities. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
Deputy Head of Water and Wastewater Department of Tehran Province, Abbasali Mesrzadeh said that wastewater is usually perceived as a source of pollution and a threat to people, but this hygienic wastewater collection project turns threat into an opportunity.
Iran is one of the leaders in West Asia in generating electricity from wastewater.
In addition to generating electricity from wastewater-fired power plants, the heat generated by gas-fired engines is used to replace fossil fuels and provide hot water.
