Iranian president-elect says the republic is eager to develop relations with the countries of the Global South

He emphasised the country's important role in shaping the new world order

Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian said that his administration will focus on strengthening cooperation with international partners, including the states of the Global South. The politician made the announcement in a message published by the Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

“Recognising that the global landscape has evolved beyond traditional dynamics, my administration is committed to fostering mutually beneficial relations with emerging international players in the Global South... We look forward to cooperating with Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and regional organisations to deepen our economic ties, bolster trade relations, promote joint venture investment, and tackle common challenges”

Masoud Pezeshkian Iran's president-elect

Speaking about Iran-Russia relations, the politician noted that the republic will continue to give priority to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the country, especially through BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Masoud Pezeshkian said that the 25-year roadmap of cooperation with China has become an important milestone on the way to establishing a mutually beneficial "comprehensive strategic partnership," and the leadership of the republic is looking forward to expanding cooperation with Beijing.

The politician also pointed to the potential for developing relations between Iran and Latin American countries.

Former Iranian Health Minister Masoud Pezeshkian won the second round of Iran's snap presidential election, which was held following the death of the country's chief executive, Ebrahim Raisi.
