Lula and Ramaphosa strengthen cooperation between Brazil and South Africa on the margins of G20
The two presidents met to discuss South Africa's upcoming leadership of the G20 and Brazil's future BRICS presidency
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva received South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Brasilia. The meeting between the two heads of state was the occasion for a discussion on South Africa's leadership of the G20 in 2025 and Brazil's future BRICS presidency.

The two leaders also discussed the resumption of meetings of IBSA, a group that brings together Brazil, India and South Africa, and the financing of conservation activities. This was reported by
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
The two sides emphasised the importance of cooperation to strengthen the representation of both countries and the Global South on issues of global interest, with a focus on sustainable development and social justice.
The South African President expressed his support for Brazilian initiatives in the G20 and Brazil, for its part, is willing to share its experience in leading the group.
In an exclusive commentary for TV BRICS, Sergey Skorokhodov, Associate Professor at the Department of Marketing at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, noted that South Africa and Brazil are important trading partners, exchanging goods in various sectors, including agriculture, industry and mining.
"Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, cultural events such as festivals, exhibitions and concerts are regularly organised to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the friendly countries. In this regard, the active exchange of students and scholars between South Africa and Brazil is of particular significance, contributing to the strengthening of cultural ties and the development of human capital"![]()

Rio de Janeiro will host the G20 summit on 18 and 19 November. Brazil assumed the presidency of the group on 1 December 2023. South Africa will next take over the chairmanship of the group.
