Russia imposes ban on sugar exports
Russia has imposed an export ban until 31 August 2024
Russia has imposed a ban on exports of cane or beet sugar, as well as chemically pure sucrose until 31 August 2024, the relevant decree has been signed, the government said in government's official social media page.
The resolution provides for a number of exceptions. Thus, sugar supplies will be possible to the EAEU countries in certain volumes.
In particular, it is allowed to export 28 thousand tonnes to Armenia, 5 thousand tonnes to Belarus, 120 thousand tonnes to Kazakhstan and 28.5 thousand tonnes to Kyrgyzstan.
The Ministry of Agriculture is instructed to distribute these volumes among exporters.
The decision to temporarily ban sugar exports was approved on 5 April at a meeting of the subcommittee on customs-tariff and non-tariff regulation, protective measures in foreign trade of the Government Commission on Economic Development and Integration.
