Saudi Arabia launches archaeological project to preserve cultural heritage
Saudi Arabia is launching a large-scale archaeological project, Al-Yamama, in and around Riyadh. The project aims to study, preserve, and showcase the rich history and culture of the region. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The project plans to create detailed maps and topographic data using modern technologies such as geographic information systems and 3D modelling.
Excavations are also planned to discover historical artefacts and study the daily lives of the ancient inhabitants.
The project aims to ensure the protection of the discovered historical sites and artefacts.
The initiative aims not only to increase knowledge of Riyadh's history but also to highlight the resilience and significance of Saudi civilisation. The project involves history and archaeology experts, scholars, and students from Saudi Arabia and other countries.
