Saudi National Centre for Wildlife establishes supervisory board
The initiative aims to maintain the Capricorn Protected Area
Saudi Arabia's National Centre for Wildlife, in bilateral cooperation with Riyadh Region Municipality, has inaugurated the first supervisory board of the Ibex Protected Area, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The initiative aims to involve local communities and relevant stakeholders in improving the management of the protected area.
The protected area covers an area of about 1,841 square kilometres. This area of Ibex is home to a variety of wildlife, including the Arabian chamois and wolf, stone daman as well as numerous bird species such as vultures, bustards, and eagles.
The source reports that the Kingdom has launched various programmes in the protected area, such as camping, hiking trails, and beekeeping.
