South Africa develops entertainment industry to attract tourists
The Rustenburg local municipality in South Africa intends to develop the entertainment industry in the town to attract tourists and improve the region's economy.
Executive Mayor of Rustenburg Sheila Mabale-Huma said the municipality will work with the entertainment industry to boost local economic development, especially in the tourism sector. This is reported by African Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
Tourism in the North West Province has been booming in recent times, generating significant revenues and creating jobs. The number of both international and domestic tourists has increased compared to last year.
As part of the entertainment development programme, the Rusty White Festival will be held from 24 to 27 October 2024. It will include a number of different events, including a comedy night, a fitness boot camp, a football tournament, and a charity event.
Rustenburg's mayor emphasised that the entertainment events are creating new business and employment opportunities in Rustenburg.
The Rusty White Festival aims to position Rustenburg as the centre of entertainment tourism in South Africa.
