Kazakhstan strengthens domestic market and international exports under new ministry plan
Ministry of Trade and Integration sets priorities for economic expansion, export growth, and domestic production support
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration concluded its annual review for 2025 under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy, Serik Zhumangarin, outlining strategic objectives for 2026. This information was reported by official website of the Prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting highlighted the trade sector’s pivotal role in driving the national economy, with domestic turnover reaching US$160 billion and non-oil exports totalling US$41 billion. Services exports rose by 3.7 per cent to US$12.3 billion.
“Our aim is not only to maintain current momentum but to elevate the trade system to a higher level of efficiency and competitiveness. The Ministry must transition from a regulatory role to that of an active growth driver,” stated Serik Zhumangarin.
Initiatives include expanding wholesale and retail turnover, promoting domestic products, stabilising socially significant supply chains, reducing the gap from producer to retailer, and boosting export potential.
According to the source, a preliminary portfolio of around 1,500 investment projects has been identified, spanning the agro-industrial sector, manufacturing and infrastructure, with more than 500 projects in agriculture and over 400 in processing industries. The Ministry will guarantee the distribution of products from these initiatives, creating a direct link between domestic production and market demand.
Looking ahead, the Ministry aims to support local producers, enhance digitalisation of trade processes, expand exchange-based trading, and increase exports of high value-added products.
