Russia–Egypt agricultural trade expands by over 15% in early 2026
Strong growth in agrifood exchange highlights deepening cooperation, with focus on grain supplies, technology transfer and food security initiatives

Agricultural trade between Russia and Egypt increased by more than 15 per cent in the first four months of 2026, underscoring the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the agrifood sector, according to data discussed during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of a national grain industry forum.
Egypt remains one of the key partners in Russia’s agricultural trade network, as reported by the official website of Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Bilateral exchanges have been driven primarily by Russian exports of grain, oilseeds and pulses, alongside growing shipments of mineral fertilisers, which have shown positive momentum in recent months.
At the same time, Russia continues to import fresh produce, including fruit, vegetables and berries from Egypt, reflecting a complementary structure in agricultural trade between the two countries.
Beyond commodity flows, both sides discussed broader cooperation aimed at strengthening food security. This includes the exchange of agricultural technologies in crop production, livestock management, irrigation systems, water desalination, genetic research and the application of modern crop protection methods, alongside continued fertiliser supply.
Education and skills development are also identified as a key area of cooperation, with opportunities to expand training programmes for agricultural specialists and increase participation of students from Egypt in Russian agricultural institutions.
