Egypt to give away one million books

Egypt’s Ministry of Culture will launch the "One Million Books" initiative at the 56th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair, held from 23 January to 5 February. This is reported by Za rubejom, a partner of TV BRICS.

Country's Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hano said that the project represents a significant step towards spreading knowledge and enriching Egyptian society with cultural and intellectual content.

The books will be distributed to schools, universities, youth centres, and other organisations involved in humanitarian development. Key collaborators include Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, among others.

The book distribution will take place as part of a cultural celebration at the Cairo International Book Fair.

In a press conference, Hano also said that this year's fair includes 1,345 publishers and official institutions from Egypt, the Arab World and abroad, representing 80 countries, with 6,150 exhibitors. 

The Cairo International Book Fair, one of the largest in the Middle East, began in 1969 during Cairo's millennium celebration and has grown to attract millions each year.
