Experts analyse achieved results of UAE Environmental Productivity Index
The UAE hosted the second Meeting of the Environmental and Municipal Affairs Council in 2024 and included discussions on ways to improve the UAE's position in the Environmental Performance Index.
The ministry continues to coordinate the work of municipal bodies and is considering various initiatives aimed at sustainable economic and social development. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment emphasised the importance of cooperation between the ministry, municipalities and other partners in achieving the Council's objectives, which is in line with the UAE government's directives on sustainable development.
One of the highlights of the meeting was a discussion on nine key areas of biodiversity recognised internationally and a collegial project between the Ministry and the International Union for Conservation of Nature aimed at protecting the UAE's unique ecosystems.
The results of the UAE's Environmental Performance Index, which ranked the country first in the region and the Arab world in 2022 and 2024, were also analysed.
