GITIS professors hold master classes for future actors in Mauritius

The programme was initiated by the Russian Embassy in the republic

Professors from the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), a partner of TV BRICS, travelled to the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, to conduct a series of master classes on acting, stage speech and stage movement. Participants in the intensive training included students, aspiring actors and teachers looking to deepen their knowledge of theatre arts.

The programme started with a master class by Ruslan Nasibulin, a senior lecturer of the Department of Stage Plastics at GITIS. Under his guidance, students performed exercises aimed at developing coordination and a sense of balance.

"In my interaction with the international students, I liked the inclusion in the process and the willingness to fulfil any tasks. The participants learnt the material offered to them with great interest, trying to understand the process of building movement on stage. Individual and paired exercises and group work were offered. After the master-classes we were left with the warmest impressions," Nasibulin shared in an exclusive commentary to TV BRICS.

Larisa Kaidalova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Stage Speech of GITIS, introduced the students to the principles of correct breathing and conducted a practical lesson on the famous Strelnikova gymnastics.

In addition, there was a lesson on acting from Tatiana Tarasova, senior lecturer of the Drama Directing Department of GITIS. The students learned the basics of Stanislavsky's system and mastered key theatre concepts.

Rector of the university Grigory Zaslavsky congratulated the participants of the programme.

"Some of you will need the knowledge you have gained tomorrow, others in six months or a year. Perhaps someone will go to study at GITIS or will tell his children about his experience, and they will already catch the idea of studying in Russia," he said.

This educational project was initiated by the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Mauritius with the personal support of Russian Ambassador Irada Zeynalova. The classes were held at the Arts Centre. GITIS held masterclasses in this state for the first time and plans to continue its work here.
