India launches Global Engagement Scheme to promote cultural heritage

The Ministry of Culture provides grants to Indo-Foreign Cultural Friendship Societies in various countries to organise cultural events

India’s Ministry of Culture has initiated the Global Engagement Scheme to showcase the nation’s rich cultural heritage through international programmes, strengthening cross-cultural ties worldwide, according to an official statement to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.

As part of this initiative, India is expanding cultural activities beyond its borders in fields such as music, dance, theatre, museums, libraries, archives, historical monument conservation, archaeology, literature, and research.

The initiative provides Indian artists with opportunities to perform abroad under the "Festival of India" banner, fostering a greater appreciation of the country’s artistic traditions, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Additionally, the Ministry of Culture supports Indian folk art and music globally by providing grants to Indo-Foreign Cultural Friendship Societies in various countries to organise cultural events.
