Saudi Arabia to initiate space sustainability study in cooperation with Brazil
Saudi Arabia has partnered with Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) to launch an innovative research initiative focused on space sustainability.
The collaboration, spearheaded by the Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), aims to promote the sustainable utilisation of orbital resources and integrate advanced technologies for space data analysis. This is reported by Arab News.
The initiative was unveiled during the 2024 International Forum on Non-Terrestrial Networks, where CST Governor Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi called on the global community to join efforts in advancing space sustainability for future generations. This collaboration is a direct result of an earlier agreement between Saudi Arabia and Brazil, reflecting their shared commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in space exploration.
The programme underscores the CST's broader strategy to expand international partnerships and leverage its expertise in communications, space, and emerging technologies. According to the source, by bridging knowledge and fostering global cooperation, the initiative seeks to address critical challenges in orbital resource management while ensuring long-term benefits for the global space ecosystem.
