South Africa holds meetings with low-income residents to help with utility bills

The meeting was organised by Tshwane deputy mayor Nasiphi Moya

An information meeting was held in Hammanskraal for residents to assist them with registering for the low-income assistance programme, which provides an opportunity to pay for utilities (water and electricity). This is reported by Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform residents about the imminent start of water supply from the new Clipdrift water treatment plant. The first phase of the project will start in October.

At the meeting, residents were also able to speak with municipal representatives to learn more about the water system and apply for the assistance programme.

Tshwane deputy mayor Nasiphi Moya stressed the importance of enrolling in the assistance programme for residents who are unable to pay their utility bills.

City officials want to make sure all Hammanskraal residents can enjoy clean water and get their bills sorted out.
