TV BRICS premieres film about gold mining in Urals to industry professionals in Ekaterinburg
The capital of the Urals Federal District hosted the premiere screening of the documentary film "Uralian Anomaly" produced by TV BRICS.
Among the audience at the International Arts Centre was Luo Shixiong, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Ekaterinburg. The diplomat noted that the film gave him a deeper understanding of the peculiarities of the Urals, its industrial history, and the mining industry. He believes this work, which tells about the profession of a geologist, should be presented in the BRICS+ countries, especially to young people. He also expressed confidence that the international distribution of the film would strengthen professional communities in the BRICS+ countries.
The premiere in Ekaterinburg was attended by the crew that worked on the film "Uralian Anomaly", including Ksenia Komissarova, Editor-in-Chief of TV BRICS, Dmitry Golovko, Chief Cameraman, and Andrey Porshnyak, Chief Director. After the film screening, the creators and heroes of the project talked about how the production process took place, shared their impressions and answered questions from the audience.
"Ekaterinburg hosted a landmark event for the TV BRICS channel. For the first time, a special screening of our documentary on the big screen was organised simultaneously with the television debut of the film. The film's heroes, mining industry experts, Ekaterinburg residents and our colleagues gathered in the hall. We are glad that we were able to share this moment with those who inspired us to create this film," said Andrey Porshnyak.
The author of the film Ksenia Komissarova noted that television is not just creativity, but a full-fledged production, where success is impossible without sincere love for one's work. She emphasised that "Uralian Anomaly" project's team put their heart into every stage of the work, showing people who are just as enthusiastic and dedicated to their profession.
Liana Beltran-Belskaya, the Film's Producer, drew attention to the special Urals character and the carelessness of the local people who helped to create this project. She said that the preparation for filming was carried out with exceptional attention to detail: props were carefully selected, and museum funds provided rare exhibits for the historical reconstruction. This helped not only to convey the atmosphere of the era, but also to emphasise important aspects of the Soviet geology history. Beltran-Belskaya added that the success of the film was largely due to the inspiring and well-coordinated work of the entire film crew.
The film was highly appreciated by representatives of the professional community. Andrey Gottman, the Chief Geologist of the gold mining enterprise and one of the heroes of the project, said that his childhood dream of becoming a geologist had turned into a lifelong endeavour. He believes it is important to show such films to schoolchildren to inspire the younger generation to choose this profession, which combines science and adventure romance. Gottman emphasised that the film was able to faithfully reflect all facets of the geologist's profession.
The film was shot in one of the richest mineral and raw materials regions of the country – the Sverdlovsk region. The filming process covered 30 different locations. More than 100 people were involved in organising the production of the picture.
Those who go on this film journey will learn how the history of gold mining in Russia began and how geology has changed since Soviet times. In addition, in the film the audience will see the tools used by geologists of the past: a compass, a curvimetre, and a "Sly Eye" loupe.
The presentation of the film "Uralian Anomaly" took place simultaneously on all resources of TV BRICS. In the future, the film will be adapted into English, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic and shown on the platforms of foreign media partners of the international media network.
Previously, the TV BRICS team also shot the films "Gold" and "More Precious than Gold" in Khabarovsk Territory, "Magadan Silver" in Magadan Oblast (region), and "The Golden Coast of the Arctic" in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
