Archaeological excavation at Wuwangdong tomb in eastern China leads to major finds
More than 3,000 cultural relics found
Chinese archaeologists during excavations in Anhui province in the east of the country discovered a tomb, which has already been recognised as the largest and highest level tomb of the ancient state of Chu.
According to Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, with reference to the National Administration of Cultural Heritage, the age of the found tomb is estimated at more than 2200 years. It is located in the city of Huainan.
Archaeologists note that this structure differs from other ancient tombs very complex structure. The researchers focused their efforts on studying the main part of the tomb, which is vertical and built in an earthen pit.
The excavations revealed that it was a rather large structure with burial chambers.
Relics recovered from the northern chambers mostly consisted of ancient musical instruments, while containers, bronzeware, lacquered wooden objects and other relics were unearthed in the other chambers
