Brazil enters top 5 most popular tourist destinations during July holidays
Tourists are increasingly choosing not only Rio, but also small resorts
Brazil has solidified its position as one of the world’s most desirable vacation spots, ranking among the top five most searched destinations for international travellers. Recent data reveals a 61 per cent year-over-year increase in accommodation searches, signalling strong momentum for Brazil’s tourism sector, as reported by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism.
Rio de Janeiro remains the premier attraction for foreign visitors, with search volumes jumping 80 per cent for July travel compared to 2024. The iconic city welcomed over half a million international tourists in just the first two months of 2025 alone, marking an impressive 50 per cent increase from the previous year. Rio continues to dominate domestic searches as well, with 63 per cent more Brazilians planning visits compared to last year.
Beyond Rio, several Brazilian destinations are experiencing explosive growth in popularity. Coastal Buzios saw a 144 per cent surge in interest, while Florianopolis attracted 108 per cent more searches. Nature lovers are flocking to Foz do Iguacu (up 248 per cent) and Porto de Galinhas (up 153 per cent).
The current trends suggest 2025 could be a landmark year for Brazilian tourism, with both international and domestic travellers responding enthusiastically to the country’s offerings and improved visitor experiences.
