Brazil temporarily becomes coordinator of Mercosur's tourism policy
Among the country's priorities are the expansion of natural routes and the strengthening of the Visit South America brand in the digital space
At the meeting Mercosur Tourism Ministers meeting, held in the format of videoconference, Brazil accepted the temporary presidency of the association in the field of tourism. This is reported by the official website of the Brazilian Government.
The event was attended by representatives of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Chile. One of the key areas of discussion was the development of regional gastronomic tourism.
Ana Carla Lopes, the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism's Executive Secretary, emphasised the importance of the sector as a tool for economic growth, regional and social integration. She also outlined the priorities of the Brazilian presidency, including the promotion of sustainable tourism, the expansion of natural routes and the digital strengthening of the Visit South America brand, a joint initiative of Mercosur countries to increase the region's visibility in the international tourism arena.
In addition, Brazil invited the states of the association to participate in the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 30), to be held in November in Belem.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a document reaffirming the desire of Mercosur countries to work together on inclusive, sustainable, and innovative tourism policies.
