Egypt accelerates green hydrogen and ammonia production with new project

This initiative supports Egypt’s long-term energy strategy

Egypt is advancing its clean energy ambitions with a proposed green hydrogen and ammonia production facility. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a high-level meeting to review the strategic project, which aligns with Egypt’s commitment to sustainable energy development and carbon emissions reduction.

The project is part of the “Green Fuel Alliance” initiative under Egypt's Ministries of Transport and Electricity.

The initiative aligns with global efforts to combat climate change by expanding the production of green hydrogen and ammonia at a competitive cost. This transition supports Egypt’s long-term energy strategy, which prioritises renewable energy integration and the reduction of dependency on fossil fuels.

Madbouly underscored the significance of developing Egypt’s green fuel industry, stressing that the project is a crucial step in transforming the nation into a regional hub for sustainable energy. He noted that Egypt offers numerous incentives to attract investments, leveraging its abundant renewable energy capacity.

“This puts us on the right track to reach carbon neutrality, contributing to attracting more investments to this promising sector,” Madbouly said.

The initiative will be rolled out in three phases, with each stage designed to optimise efficiency and scalability in green fuel production.
