Egypt conducts population survey for chronic and kidney disease
13 million Egyptians took part in this project
Over 13 million Egyptians have been checked for renal and chronic diseases, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population. This project is a component of the September 2021 presidential initiative. This was reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
The initiative offers residents over 40 access to high-quality medical care with the goal of early detection and treatment of chronic illnesses. The programme also aims to reach adults who have a history of these illnesses and are at least 18 years old.
The programme is present in 3,601 primary health care facilities nationwide, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
Tests are performed on citizens to determine their body mass index, kidney function, blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipid levels. Individuals who are hospitalised or diagnosed with chronic illnesses receive free care in medical facilities.
Patients with verified chronic renal disease are also eligible for free medical care. The use of early detection tools for renal illnesses has been trained into the medical teams of primary care facilities.
