Ethiopia reports growth in tourism sector

Government focuses on conference tourism and tourism infrastructure development

Ethiopian Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa has reported growth in the country's tourism sector over the past nine months, noting significant success in conference tourism and destination development. This is reported by ENA, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to Ethiopia's Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa, the government's exclusive focus on the tourism sector has resulted in a significant increase in the number of international, continental and regional events organised in the country.

"We have held more than 60 major conferences during this period, a significant increase compared to the same period last year," Selamawit said.

In addition to conference tourism, important steps have been taken in the rehabilitation and expansion of tourism sites, including the Jimma Aba Jifar Palace, Fasil Palace (Fasil Ghebbi), and others.

A review of tourism policy is underway to align infrastructure, marketing and investment strategies with global standards.

Future efforts will be directed towards further strengthening infrastructure and promoting the country's tourism potential through collaboration with key stakeholders.
