Eurasian Economic Union countries signed a free trade agreement with Iran

The signing took place in St. Petersburg within the framework of the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

During the ceremony, the document was signed by Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mikhail Myasnikovich, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Iranian Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Abbas Aliabadi. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreement was also signed by representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich, the parties agreed to abolish import customs duties on nearly 90 per cent of the commodity nomenclature, which accounts for more than 95 per cent of trade between Iran and the EAEU countries.

Tehran also expects the free trade agreement to increase trade with Russia and Belarus.
